LYRICS

PictureHere I am at 18 with my first guitar. My cousin Jessica and I are having some fun co-writing some lyrics.

I started writing music when I received my first guitar for my 18th birthday. I remember locking myself in my room for hours, marveling at the works of other singer-songwriters I had so dearly looked up to. Some of my favorites were Jewel, Michelle Branch, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple and Lisa Loeb. The list is actually pretty endless, but these were the poetic women who really shaped my love for writing in the lyrical style. Most of my songs, I played around the NJ Acoustic Open Mic circuit, and I was even fortunate enough to have been able to record a few songs  or “excerpts” of this life of mine. I hope you enjoy reading through these, as much as I did creating them.

Anymore

ABOUT THE SONG
I wrote this song during the first year of me learning how to play guitar. I was in art school at the time, and this song was written about my frustration with being stagnant in a place I feel like I really didn’t belong. I loved art school, but it was at this time that music had become the forefront of everything that existed to me in the world, and I really would rather have pursued it more full time, than be sitting in class. This is just a crappy scratch track, and I’m not even sure I would consider recording this full production someday, because the lyrical content just seems so juvenile to me now.

Verse 1:
She sits there crying
Balling her eyes out
She doesn’t know where her life is gonna lead
She sits there pen in her hand
And tears rolling down her face
Hoping one day, she’ll leave this no good place, yea.

So, just….

Chorus:
Take me away from here
Won’t you wash away all my tears
Because, I really don’t wanna be here anymore…
Anymore…

Verse 2:
She has a big dent in the side of her car door
Funds are low, but I wouldn’t say
She was poor, oh no…
She sits there guitar on her lap
And tears rolling down on her face
Hoping one day she’d write herself
Out of this no good hell of a place

So just…

Chorus:
Take me away from here
Won’t you wash away all my tears
Because, I really don’t wanna be here anymore…
Anymore…
