Hey Guys!
My new EP is in its FINAL stages…it is at the manufacturer, I should be gettin them back in the next week or so. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, head on over to http://JustinasWorld.com to PRE-ORDER it! The actual release date is Nov 27! In the meantime, check out this video, as I gearing up to head to the beautiful Savannah, GA to make my very first official Music Video as well as a documentary which will be directed by my brother, Vincent Carubia. Stay tuned for some updates and behind the scenes footage. Justina xoxo Well if this thing hasn’t taken me long enough! I just have some quick little updates for you guys. I just finished up mastering lastnight on the new EP. The CD itself is officially DONE!! Now it needs to be sent for packaging. I will release an official date once I get word from discmakers, but I think it’s safe to say that we’re looking on an early or mid-November release! I have alot of stuff coming up as well…
I am planning to have a CD release party, there is no venue or date yet, it’s only just talk right now. I have a band lined up and we will be rehearsing very soon ! I am also planning to go down to Savannah, Georgia from Nov. 2nd – 8th to shoot a music video for my first single off the EP, “Formula”. I’m also filming a documentary while down there as well as playing a solo acoustic gig. My brother is a film student down there , so it will be cool to collaborate with him. I am very excited to get out there and start playing again for you guys! I will update again once I found out solid dates and details for the release/release party 😀 Sit tight , we’re almost there !! -Justina<3 This video was filmed as we were working on pre production for the song. Thank you to Jason Jackson for filming it for me and Steve Ambielli for playing the keys and producing the track.
🙂 Justina xoxo Hey Guys…
I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I last updated. Yea it’s been a LOOOOOOOONG time, BUT in those 2 years I’ve been very busy writing new material and recording it. I have been working on a new 4 or 5 song EP titled “Last One Standing”. If I could sum this demo up in one word, I would say it would be “Rejection” : We’ve all been through it! I kinda wrote all these songs with the same themes, without even really meaning to. It wasn’t until I had all the songs lined up for recording when I actually realized they all had the same underlying theme. I think it really focused on those around me who were going through relationships that were rejecting eachother, but also the rejection that I had within myself (me towards myself, friends towards me, or the record companies toward me). We all have our low points where we want to sulk, and feel sorry for ourselves, and that was my songwriting process. But then comes the recording process, when I get to play/sing/document my art and be creative. That is when I get to let all of those bottled up emotions out and create something beautiful. It isn’t until I release it, I let all of those emotions go , and hopefully they’ll reach someone who’s going through the same thing to let them know they’re not alone. I think this demo will really show how I’ve grown as an artist. My writing is maturing, my voice is maturing, I’m being more creative with the production. With the last demo (Break of Day) I felt like I was locked in a closet for the whole process , and I was only let out to do vocals, and then I was locked back in that closet for the rest of the process…even though I wrote most of those songs by myself (11/4 out of 5 were cowritten), that is how I felt. The sound was very much molded by the people producing it, and not that it sounded BAD , it just wasn’t neccassarily 100% ME. Most of my acoustic tracks were either erased or buried very low in the mix as well…but it was a learning experience and for that I am grateful. With my new demo, all the big decisions were pretty much made by me, from the writing (every track on this cd is solely wrote by me), to the song editing, to pre-production, to which producer and studio I wanted to work with, to the mixing, to the order of the songs on the CD, to the album art….Now just because most of all of these decisions were finalized by ME, this does not mean I wasn’t open to opinions, or ideas. I could not have done any of this without the help of my amazingly supportive family, my boyfriend/keyboardist Steve, the guys from Hey Tiger (Wayne, Josh, Jim) and Pigeon Club Studios in Hoboken, and Marc Ribler. It was a very artistically satisfying experience, and I can’t WAIT to share all of my hard work for the past year with you listeners! I can say that this demo is 100% ME…. There is still a tiny bit left that has to be tracked , and then it is on to Mastering… and then Packaging…it won’t be much longer. Sit tight, it will be well worth the wait ! I PROMISE!! -Justina |
